When my internet connection is cut off by a misconfigured VPN, immediately a window opens that says it cannot connect to the Internet. When I reconnect to the Internet the window loads elementary OS content. It looks like a elementary OS welcome-window or something like that. But it is not ....

cunning folks. I think this occured after doing an 'apt-get update' and then 'apt-get upgrade' which I thought would keep elementary OS among other applications, up to date. Elementary OS, 0.3.1, 64-bit. The top bar has the date, but I would love to expand the date to read in full, for example, today, "Saturday, September 12, 2015 9:15 AM". I can't see a way to do that. Can someone assist me? Thanks. ....
